In August of 2012 I drove up to GenCon in Indianapolis, IN.
Of course, I did not go straight there. This was another of my great detours.
In this case, I went to Gencon by way of Key West, Florida.

One of the reasons I took this particular route to Gencon was because I wanted to visit a number of places from food shows, like Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
However, all the restaurants I had selected for this trip were closed when I got there. They were either closed for the day, or the hour, or the season, or permanently.
I had come to Mandeville on a Monday looking for a restaurant of my selection (I have since forgotten the name), and it was closed because of Monday.
Vacation town, I should've known.
Many other restaurants were closed as well, thus I ended up at the Barley Oak. It wasn't very busy, the bartender who took my order was pleasant, and the food was good enough. I'd go there again.
Bonus Fun Fact: A few weeks after I had visited, there was a big storm in the area. The barley oak posted some pictures on their facebook page, they had to deliver goods via rowboat to their second floor.
